The submission period for our anthology is over and we are currently reading and categorizing submissions. This is a pretty exciting endeavor for us and we are quite honored by the quantity and quality of the submissions received.

We expect to have all parties notified by August 31, 2010. Here’s to doing something great…together!

Q&A: Kid Friendly?

Q: I was thinking about this not too long ago………. Parents or parents- to-be when choosing to write your book(s) does making it kid-friendly come into play? Do you think about your kid reading your book now or when they get older? I know some parents share their book writing process with their kids. I know the book I am working on now is not kid-friendly which could be a reason for my writer’s block LOL I would like everyone’s take on this if this has come across your mind and if your book isn’t kid-friendly how did you decide to write it knowing you didn’t want your child reading it until they got older?

Part and parcel with being an author or writer is the weight of responsibility for what you are about to commit to paper and available for public consumption. Is it accurate? Is it well crafted? Your purpose for writing? Will it’s publication adversely affect anyone near or dear to you? Is it something that years later you will still be proud of?

After you’ve answered all of the above and anymore that may be sparked by the above questions. If you’re still going to go for it… I’d suggest using a pseudonym that way it doesn’t have to affect your child until you deem him/her old enough to deal.
